In November 2025, Beyond was in Lisbon for the Web Summit, a gathering of innovators, leaders, and changemakers shaping the future of tech and society. Anaïs Tobalagba, our Natural Resources Lead, hosted the roundtable on “Deploying Tech for Public Good: Tech Businesses as Human Rights Leaders”, where participants explored how emerging international standards are creating new human rights and environmental responsibilities for companies, and how the tech sector — from early-stage startups to global multinationals — can rise to the challenge. The discussions focused on practical steps for tech businesses to build responsible internal processes, clean up global supply chains, protect workers and marginalised rightsholders, and leverage tech leadership for meaningful public good.
Anaïs also joined a panel on “The roadmap for an equitable energy transition” where, alongside other experts, she discussed why the energy transition is not just a carbon issue, but a people issue, and what it will take to ensure fairness, accessibility, and accountability as global energy systems evolve.
