Beyond Human Rights Compliance delivered heightened human rights due diligence training yesterday to corporate members of the UN Global Compact Network UK Accelerator.

Represented by the Head of BHRC, Lara Strangways, and Senior Legal Advisor, Grace Camara, we shared our experience working in conflict regions such the Ukraine, OPT and Myanmar, highlighting the differences between standard risk-based human rights due diligence and more heightened approaches.

The training provided participants with practical steps to take when conducting due diligence in challenging contexts, such as:

– Conducting in-depth conflict analyses, including conflict actor mapping
– Raising awareness among staff of the RED FLAGS that generally precede a conflict
– Engaging with security experts and adapting access to remedy and grievance mechanisms
– Creating a responsible exit plan that is subject to periodic review
